Jason Statham is an action hero in his own right with unforgettable movies like “The Mechanic,” “Transporter,” “War,” and “Beekeeper.” He seems to be trapped in tough-guy roles; however, he plays them really well. Who can blame the casting directors, right?
Statham plays a hunted former assassin, who had been in hiding from the public for years until a trip to town in order to buy supplies for an injured girl, whose boat had capsized because of a storm on her recent delivery to a remote island in England, gave the individuals hunting him the lead they needed to find his hiding place. This forces him to use the skills of his former life to protect himself and the girl who, in time, began to become dear in his heart.
My critiques are not going to be useless blah blah blah. As a film major, I never want to spoil a movie for any individual who wants to be entertained. Is this movie entertaining? Yes, yes, yes. I was entertained, regardless of the graphic nature of the movie. Quite simply, it deserves the “R” rating it has.
